GEM MATTHEWS INTERNATIONAL Srl: LEADER IN ECOLOGICAL AND ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES

GEM MATTHEWS INTERNATIONAL Srl: LEADER IN ECOLOGICAL AND ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES

GEM Matthews International Srl designs, manufactures and installs waste-to-energy plants of various types of waste, such as: special industrial waste, hazardous waste, organic waste and animal carcasses, hospital waste and biomass of plant origin. Heat recovery and energy recovery plants complete the GEM Matthews International Srl offer, as well as dry and wet systems for depuration of combustion fumes, metal elements pyrolytic paint stripping systems. Collaboration with the University of Udine and Trieste places the Company at the forefront of waste management for energy recovery. In this field, the company has a consolidated experience, with hundreds of plants installed in Italy and abroad. The company carries out the various processing stages within its production workshop up to testing before delivery to the customer. The company's technical department is highly qualified and can handle all operational phases, feasibility studies, construction and installation, up to final testing. In addition, within its organisation, GEM Matthews International Srl is equipped with a facility dedicated to the technical assistance and maintenance of plants capable of operating in Italy and abroad also thanks to the remote control of installed plants.

GEM Matthews International Srl has an adequate spare part warehouse at its headquarters in Udine to ensure prompt intervention for both minute and routine maintenance and extraordinary maintenance. Thanks to the meticulous and advanced design and care of the choice of materials, GEM Matthews International Srl furnaces brilliantly overcome all the problems associated with a thermodestruction process with heat recovery in accordance with the environment and the regulations of the Countries to which they are destined, all of which place them at the forefront in the industry.

PRODUCTION RANGE

PRODUCTION RANGE

The GEM Matthews International Srl production line includes hot bottom pyrolytic static furnaces with "Reciprocating grate" type, with GEM patented air and/or water cooling system and rotary drum furnaces with discontinuous or continuous operation.

GEM Matthews International Srl's different sized and potential furnaces are able to handle specific categories of waste and to operate in a discontinuous and continuous 24-hour mode allowing high disposal capacity. GEM Matthews International Srl manufactures water pipe and smoke pipe heat recovery units for the use of enthalpy heat in the fumes resulting from the combustion process.

The GEM Matthews International Srl production line is completed by the dry and wet fumes purification and dust extraction systems, as well as human cremation and pet cremation systems, and special plants such as thermal combustors for gaseous effluents and pyrolytic paint stripping plants.

COMBUSTION PLANTS POWERED BY GEM BIOMASSES

COMBUSTION PLANTS POWERED BY GEM BIOMASSES

GEM Matthews International Srl designs and manufactures combustion plants fuelled by biomass and alternative fuels such as: aviculture litter, bark, first and second woodworking waste, agricultural processing residues (vine shoots, corn stalks, rice husk, pomace residues and similar, grape seeds, fruit residues, pruning residues and other plant residues). GEM Matthews International Srl series F plants with controlled combustion process consist of a mobile grid combustion chamber, an integrated thermal recovery unit in the combustion unit and a dust extraction section. The controlled combustion process with automatic adjustment ensures optimum air/fuel ratio dosing and greatly reduces smoke emissions in the atmosphere, in full compliance with the latest and most stringent national and European regulations. Continuous adjustment to computerised systems allows thermo-fluid dynamics parameters in a limited range of variability, ensuring constant performance particularly useful for both energy recovery and full compliance with the regulations governing the emission of combustion fumes. The combustion process control system is tailored to the specific needs of each customer and guarantees management simplicity and versatility as it is possible to remote control the combustion parameters via computer over the Internet.

INDUSTRIAL WASTE

INDUSTRIAL WASTE

The need for proper disposal and the use of industrial processing residues within its plant is part of the current legislation on waste disposal and atmospheric emissions and is an effective alternative energy source. GEM Matthews International Srl has developed a range of rotary drum units suitable for continuous use, particularly suitable for thermodestruction of special waste, (solid and liquid) of industrial origin (chemical, paper, rubber industries, etc.) or hospital, even of a dangerous type.

The GEM Matthews International Srl RT series controlled combustion rotary drum furnace with flue gas "flowing parallel" to the waste stream and with mechanical ash discharge and continuous operation (24/7) has been studied and designed to efficiently and functionally solve problems associated with thermo-distribution of an extremely wide and heterogeneous range of waste. The continuous rotation of the combustion chamber allows for good exposure of all the mass of the waste moving in the drum, favouring a good mix of refuse. The thermodestruction reaction takes place at high temperatures in a fully microprocessor controlled environment, thus obtaining high combustion efficiency with atmospheric emissions in compliance with national and European regulations. GEM Matthews International Srl has developed RT/D series rotary drum units for organic waste and animal carcases for continuous or cycle operation, which have, on request, an automatic loader and can provide high disposal capacity.

FLUE GAS CLEANING SYSTEMS AND MERCURY REDUCTION

FLUE GAS CLEANING SYSTEMS AND MERCURY REDUCTION

Our Company is the only one on the European market able to propose two alternative solutions for flue gas cleaning systems, based on the "best available technology" (B.A.T.), both capable of ensuring compliance with the most restrictive European and international standards, user needs in terms of available space, type of use, and reference standards. The first technological solution involves the use of a reaction tower, reagent injection and bag filter; this solution is widely consolidated and recommended as B.A.T. in terms of the efficiency of reducing both the acid and organic compounds, dioxins and metals. The second solution involves, to begin with, mechanical/physical treatment of the fumes through the use of a cyclone and a fabric filter and subsequent absorption treatment with a fixed bed of activated carbons through which the fumes are obliged to pass, thus intercepting a wide spectrum of pollutants.
This solution allows significantly reducing the production of waste collected in the hoppers of the filters and provides for periodic replacement of the active carbon bed after about 2 years or approximately 2500 cremations, with undeniable benefits in terms of maintenance and plant management. For both solutions, a water pipes or smoke pipes heat exchanger is installed downstream of the post-combustion chamber, depending on the available space, with the function of cooling the fumes up to the optimum temperature for subsequent effective purification. The GEM Matthews International Srl bag dust-extraction system, which is small in size and extremely compact, is suitable for use in environments even with little space available. The favourable ratio between the filter surface and the unit size guarantees compactness and high uptake efficiency at the same time. The GEM Matthews International Srl smoke treatment system is sized according to the specific limits required by the Local Authorities for each plant. GEM Matthews International Srl filtration technology can also be applied to existing cremation systems to ensure adaptation and compliance with the new and more stringent regulations on emissions into the atmosphere.
